Fa'afili joins Quins

Harlequins RL have announced the signing of New Zealand winger Henry Fa’afili.

The 27-year-old has agreed a two-year deal that will keep him at the Twickenham Stoop until the end of 2009.

Fa’afili, who comes to the Harlequins from Warrington Wolves, is engage Super League’s current leading try-scorer and has featured in the overall top five try-scorers each year since playing his first full engage Super League season in 2005.

Although Samoan born, Fa’afili’s professional career kicked off in New Zealand with the Auckland Warriors in 2000, where he stayed until he joined the Wolves late in 2004.

Harlequins head coach Brian McDermott expects that Fa’afili will add strike and a new dimension to the changing back line in 2008.

“We’re very excited about having a proven try scorer,” he said. “He’s been either the top, or one of the top try scorers in Super League over the last few years.

“As a player he also offers versatility, he can play back row as well as centre and wing.

“It’s great that he’s keen to come down here and further his career.”

Fa’afili is equally happy about the move, saying: “I’m really excited to be moving down to London to join the Harlequins.

“I have had some good chats with both Brian McDermott and Tony Rea and the set up they have there sounds great.

“It’s going to be a new challenge for myself and I’m looking forward to it.”
