Castleford Tigers youngster Joe Westerman could return to action this weekend three weeks after suffering a worrying head injury.
The 19-year-old loose forward had a fit on the field after a blow to the head in his side’s engage Super League defeat to St Helens on April 19.
Westerman spent a night in hospital but was fit to return to training last week and has now been included in Terry Matterson’s provisional 19-man squad for Saturday’s Carnegie Challenge Cup tie against Halifax.
Full-back Richard Owen and hooker Kirk Netherton have both been ruled out after suffering side and back injuries in last weekend’s loss to Hull FC in Edinburgh.
They join Ryan Hudson and Craig Huby on the sidelines but Ryan Clayton and Nathan Massey are back in contention.
