Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence Following a Match Review Panel meeting held on 17th March 2014, you are charged with misconduct for a breach of Law 15.1(a) during the above Match. The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred The Panel first reviewed an incident which occurred in approximately the 77th minute of the Match. In the Panel’s opinion you kicked out at your opponent (O’Brien) in a tackle and made contact with your opponent’s head. The Panel believed this conduct was unnecessary, reckless and against the spirit of the game In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade B offence (Strikes – Kicks – Kicks Opponent – Light Contact). If found to have committed the offence, again in accordance with the On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the normal suspension range for such offence is from a 1 to a 2 match suspension. In addition the Tribunal has the power to impose such fine as it considers reasonable.

Player states was trying to get to his feet after the tackle to play the ball and maintain momentum. The player accepts his actions were careless and accidentally made contact with opponent. Immediately showed remorse towards opponent. No intent to injure.

Reasons for Decision The tribunal are concerned this is the second occasion this player has been involved in lashing out with his feet after the tackle. It is clear from the DVD the player was trying to get to his feet as both his legs appear at the same position. The player must learn this is his second incident involving this type of careless action. He has accepted his guilt and did show immediate remorse. Taking into account all the circumstances this tribunal feel that a £300 fine is appropriate
