Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence Following a Match Review Panel meeting held on 17th March 2014, you are charged with misconduct for a breach of Law 15.1(a) during the above Match. The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred in approximately the 20th minute of the above Match. In the Panel’s opinion when tackling your opponent (Robinson), you made contact with your opponent’s head with your shoulder/arm. The Panel believe that your actions were unnecessary and had the potential to cause your opponent injury. In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade B offence (Strikes with hand, arm or shoulder - reckless). If found to have committed the offence, again in accordance with the On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the normal suspension range for such offence is from a 1 to 2 match suspension. In addition the Tribunal has the power to impose such fine as it considers reasonable.

Player pleads guilty to the fact that in making the tackle he did make contact with the opponents head. It was careless contact and not reckless with no intent to injure. Opponent was fixed in the line-player had to make tackle. The tackle was done at speed. Players arm was bent and not swinging or straight. Contact was with shoulder and opponents head. Misjudged tackle on opponent of less height. Careless contact result trying to make legitimate tackle

This type of contact, shoulder to head has the potential for serious injury. Fortunately in this instance no serious injury was caused.
