Decision On Charge
Player plea Guilty
Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence Following a Match Review Panel meeting held on 19 August 2013, you are charged with misconduct for a breach of Law 15.1(a) during the above Match. The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred in approximately the 80th minute of the Match when you were involved in a particularly unsavoury brawl. You were dismissed from the field of play following the incident. In the Panel’s opinion you became involved in this incident and threw punches in a violent manner. The Panel believed that this behaviour was serious misconduct, against the spirit of the game, and that your punches had the potential to cause injury. In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade D offence. If found to have committed the offence, again in accordance with the On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the normal suspension range for such offence is a 3 to 5 match suspension. In addition the Tribunal has the power to impose such fine as it considers reasonable. Under the RFL Disciplinary Guidelines you are not eligible to take the Early Guilty Plea due to the grading of the Charge.

Mitigating Factors
Reasons for Decision The committee have viewed this incident and it is clear that this player throws a number of punches in what can only be described as a very ‘ugly’ and ‘violent’ incident. This player to begin with does not become involved and it can actually be seen that the player is trying to stop others becoming involved in the incident. However the committee then also note that the player does react to his team mate being punched and throws a number of violent manner towards the head of his opponents. The player does have a recent disciplinary record as of July 2012 whereby he received a 2 match suspension. The committee in this instance feel that given his record despite his early guilty plea, a 4 match suspension and a £25 fine is appropriate.
Suspension 4 matches
Fine £25
