Decision On Charge
Player plea Guilty plea
Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence Following a Match Review Panel meeting held on 11 July 2013, you are charged with misconduct for a breach of Law 15.1(a) during the above Match. The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred at the conclusion of the Match. In the Panel’s opinion you came from the substitutes bench, and became unnecessarily involved in a melee throwing punches in a violent manner. The Panel believed that this behaviour was serious misconduct; against the spirit of the game; that your punches had potential to cause injury; and that your conduct contributed to a prolonged melee occurring In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade E offence (Strikes – Punching - Sustained). If found to have committed the offence, again in accordance with the On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the normal suspension range for such offence is from a 4 to an 8 match suspension. In addition the Tribunal has the power to impose such fine as it considers reasonable. Under the RFL Disciplinary Guidelines you are ineligible to take an Early Guilty Plea due to the seriousness of the charge.

Aggravating Factors Actions escalated an ugly incident
Mitigating Factors
Reasons for Decision The Tribunal are satisfied the grading in this instance is not an issue. This player clearly travelled a significant distance onto the field at speed. He lashed out at opponents and cannot be seen to make any attempt to shake hands with opponents. He becomes involved in three separate confrontations and then is seen to go back into the melee again. It is fair to say towards the end of the brawl he can be seen to be acting as a peacemaker amongst his own team mates. The fact whether he is entitled to be on the pitch at that point is academic as he does not come on during play the final whistle having been blown. Taking into account the players plea of guilt and his previous good record the tribunal are prepared to impose a sanction at the bottom end of the grading. The tribunal feel that a 4 match suspension and £25 fine is appropriate.
Suspension 4 matches
Fine £25
