| Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence | Following a Match Review Panel meeting held on 18 February 2013, you are charged with misconduct for a breach of Law 15.1(a) during the above Match. The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred in approximately the 72nd minute of the Match. You were sin binned following this incident by the match referee. In the Panel’s opinion you became involved in a confrontation with an opponent (Westwood) and threw punches in a violent manner. The Panel believed that this behaviour was serious misconduct, against the spirit of the game, and that your punches had the potential to cause injury. In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade B offence (Strikes – Punching). If found to have committed the offence, again in accordance with the On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the normal suspension range for such offence is from a 1 to a 2 match suspension. In addition the Tribunal has the power to impose such fine as it considers reasonable. Under the RFL Disciplinary Guidelines you are not eligible to take an Early Guilty Plea due to a 2 match suspension you received on the 1st August 2012. |
| Summary of Player's submissions on the Charge / evidence | Oliver Marns speaking on behalf of the player states that the player pleads guilty to the offence however notes there are mitigation to this. The player is confronted by his opponent, Mr Westwood who pushes out at Mr Webb who then retaliates and trades punches. The player states that Mr Westwood confronts him in an aggressive manner. Mr Webb says he is trying to get back into the defensive line but Mr Westwood is confronting him. Mr Webb then retaliates and trades punches. |
