Hull KR recorded back-to-back Super League wins for the first time since July with a 44-6 success over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the KC Lightstream Stadium.

Omari Caro, Josh Hodgson and Kris Welham all grabbed a brace of tries while Neville Costigan and Kris Keating also got over with Travis Burns kicking 12 points.

Jarrod Sammut converted Pita Godinet's late try for the Wildcats to deny the hosts a second straight shut-out.

Rovers made the perfect start after containing Wakefield on their opening drive. Three repeat sets gave the home side the ideal platform to open the scoring after teasing the Wildcats on both sides of the pitch.

Eventually Adam Walker's offload allowed Costigan to scamper over for his first Rovers try and Burns converted for a 6-0 lead in just the fourth minute.

Wakefield felt they should have had a goal-line drop as Keating shielded a grubber kick to go dead, but referee Phil Bentham was advised by his touch judges that it was a 20-metre restart.

Rovers made light work of going the 80 metres in their next set to send Caro over for their second try in the 13th minute.

Welham's quick hands allowed the winger through and extended Rovers' lead to 10-0, but Burns missed the conversion.

Wakefield came close to cutting the deficit in the 22nd minute when they were awarded a penalty when Ben Cockayne's tackle was penalised by the touch judge. Scott Anderson fumbled the ball going for the Rovers line two plays later.

Rovers extended their advantage in the 31st minute, moments after Burns came up inches short.

Seeing a gap, co-captain Hodgson backed himself to score from three metres out and Burns converted for a 16-0 lead.

There was still time for Rovers to increase their half-time advantage to 22-0 when Welham grounded Keating's kick after Paul Sykes made a mess of trying to gather the kick through. It was a deserved lead for Rovers for all their possession and territory.

The second half was also dominated by Rovers, but they had to wait until the 52nd minute before celebrating their next score.

Welham started the move after Wakefield squandered possession again. His pass outside set Caro away and there was no stopping the Jamaica international. Burns missed the conversion but it hardly mattered to the outcome.

Trailing 26-0, the game was lost as far as Wakefield were concerned. All they had to play for was pride, but even that was in short supply for Richard Agar's side.

Keating compounded Wakefield's woes with his side's sixth try of the game by ducking out of tackles to score under the posts and Burns added the extras for a 32-0 lead.

Keating was enjoying himself and he was the provider of Rovers’ next try, for Hodgson under the posts. Burns converted easily as Wakefield looked a sorry outfit.

Welham grabbed his second of the game by dancing through the Wakefield defence with Burns converting.

But just when it looked as though Rovers would secure back-to-back shut-outs for the first time in Super League, Godinet intercepted a Keating pass to score. Sammut converted, but it was far too little and far too late for Wakefield.
