Batley take top spot

Batley went top of the Kingstone Press Championship thanks to a 20-10 win over lowly Barrow at Craven Park.

The Raiders threatened to spring a shock when winger Adam Clay went over for a sixth-minute try but the visitors seized control with scores from Alex Bretherton, Dan Fleming and Danny Maun to lead 16-4 at half-time.

Liam Campbell added a second try for the home side in the second half and, although Greg Johnson finished off the scoring for the Bulldogs, the Raiders hung on to ensure a losing bonus point that at least lifted them off the foot of the table.
