Bradford Bulls put a reserve Huddersfield Giants side to the sword to complete the Super League double over the table-toppers in a one-sided final game of the season at Odsal.

The Bulls took full advantage of Giants coach Paul Anderson's decision to rest all but four members of the team that clinched the league leaders' shield to run in five tries in each half for a welcome win that secures them a ninth-place finish.

Stand-off Jarrod Sammut led the way with four tries and centre Keith Lulia marked his farewell appearance with a hat-trick as Bradford bounced back well from a shock home defeat by London Broncos which was labelled an embarrassment by captain Matt Diskin.

It was all a far cry from the joyous scenes which greeted Huddersfield's league-clinching 40-0 win over Wakefield Trinity Wildcats last Sunday but Anderson will be unperturbed by a sixth defeat of the season as he eyes on Thursday's qualifying play-off against Wigan Warriors and the chance to move to within 80 minutes of a maiden Grand Final.

He opted to give debuts to four teenagers and give run-outs to four other players with just four Super League appearances between them.

Bradford had four 18-year-olds of their own, including debutants Curtis Naughton and Nathan Conroy, in the absence of nine senior players through injury but they had enough experience to see them to their biggest win of the season, surpassing their 40-6 opening day win over Wakefield.

The young Giants actually made the brighter start and the Bulls' opening try came against the run of play, with Sammut collecting Kyle Wood's kick and sprinting 90 metres unchallenged to touch down.

Sammut's break also set up the position for Lulia, who is returning the Australia's NRL next season, to claim his first try after impressive winger Elliot Kear had switched the point of attack to expose a weakness down Huddersfield's right side.

Diskin would have scored but for losing control of the ball as he went for the line but there was no stopping Lulia on 26 minutes as he took Luke Gale's pass to cross for his second try.

A 40-20 kick from Sammut set up the position for second rower Danny Addy to go through some weak tackling for Bradford's fourth try and Gale and Sammut then combined to get winger Jamie Foster over for another.

With Foster kicking four conversions, the Bulls led 28-0 at the break and it quickly got worse for the visitors, with Bradford-bound centre Luke George losing possession inside the first set of tackles in the second half.

Foster was released by Lulia and his inside pass got Sammut over for his second try, with Foster's fifth goal stretching his side's lead to 34-0.

The Huddersfield youngsters never gave up though and full-back Jake Connor jinked his way through the Bradford defence for an individual try on 48 minutes and fellow debutant Jack Miller added the conversion.

It was only a minor interruption to the one-way traffic, however, as Sammut completed his hat-trick on the hour and followed up Foster's delicate grubber kick to make it four eight minutes later.

The ever-dangerous Kear grabbed a deserved try before Lulia fittingly finished off the rout with the Bulls' 10th try and Foster kicked his ninth goal from 10 attempts to finish with a personal haul of 22 points.
