Warrington Wolves responded to their surprise derby defeat at Widnes Vikings with an ultimately convincing victory over an inexperienced London Broncos outfit.

With a host of senior players missing - and two Super League debutants in teenage half-back James Woodburn-Hall and 20-year-old forward Erjon Dollapi - the Broncos battled hard to remain competitive for an hour, with right-winger Kieran Dixon taking his try-tally for the season to 11 with a first-half hat-trick.

Yet the floodgates opened in the closing stages as Warrington - 28-14 up with 20 minutes remaining - clinically punished a tiring defence.

Half of the Wolves' 10 tries came in the final quarter - Chris Bridge, Stefan Ratchford and Rhys Williams finishing with two apiece - but London can certainly take plenty of positives from their display despite the final outcome.

The Broncos claimed a shock early lead following an interception from Chad Randall inside his own half. The hooker did not have the pace to score himself but Dixon went over later in the set.

Warrington responded with two tries in quick succession, Joel Monaghan beating Liam Colbon to Richie Myler's high bomb for the first and Williams, back from dual-registration duty with Swinton, scoring on the opposite flank after good work from Michael Monaghan, Brett Hodgson and Myler.

Hodgson's conversion from the left wing - the first successful kick on a windy afternoon - made it 10-4. But a trio of superb offloads - started off by Michael Witt - enabled Dixon to touch down for his second try of the game.

Unfortunately for the visitors, their good work in the opening quarter was then somewhat undermined as full-back Alex Hurst lost the ball in a tackle five metres from his own line, leaving Bridge with a simple score that Hodgson added the extras to.

Bridge soon claimed a second, also converted by Hodgson, after exchanging passes with Joel Monaghan on the fifth tackle, although the centre limped off moments later.

Ben Currie could have added to London's problems when he outpaced Colbon to reach a kick through from Myler, but the substitute was unable to ground the ball.

The Broncos duly capitalised on their good fortune, with the pacy Dixon completing his hat-trick after Witt had surged through a yawning gap. After two earlier misses, London's stand-off was successful with the resulting touchline kick.

Warrington predictably upped the pace after half-time and a spell of pressure was rewarded as Hodgson grabbed his side's fifth try, followed by his fourth conversion.

London then ran out of steam as the game entered its final quarter and Ratchford capitalised on breaks from Chris Hill and Hodgson to twice go in under the posts.

Joel Monaghan went over in the corner again and Currie powered over from inside 10 metres to make it 48-14 before Williams added his second.

The Broncos at least had the final say as Dollapi marked his first appearance with a close-range try, converted by Witt on the hooter.
