Doncaster edge unlucky Barrow
Barrow were cursing their luck after having three second-half tries disallowed in Sunday\'s 16-13 Co-operative Championship 1 play-off final defeat at Warrington\'s Halliwell Jones Stadium.
Both teams have earned promotion to an expanded Championship, along with Whitehaven and Workington, but it is Doncaster who will go up as champions following their hard-fought victory.
Barrow, who won at Doncaster in the first round of the play-offs, led thanks to centre Chris Larkin\'s early try but Doncaster winger Stu Sanderson brought the scores level with a 12th-minute touchdown.
The Cumbrians stretched their lead to 7-4 at half-time with a penalty from Andy Ballard and a drop goal by stand-off Scott Kaighan and they threatened for much of the second half without being able to supply the finishing touches.
Winger James Nixon got over the line early in the second half only to have the try disallowed for a knock-on and captain Liam Harrison was brought back for a forward pass.
Doncaster, on the other hand, scored tries through full-back Lee Waterman and scrum-half Craig Fawcett from their only two meaningful attacks of the second half and, with Tom Hodson adding both conversions, they established a 16-7 lead after an hour.
Larkin became the third Barrow player to have a try disallowed before centre Aaron Low finally got over the line for a legitimate score but it came too late to affect the outcome.
