Courses
Match Officials 13-a-side Course
The full 13-a-side course enables all participants to gain a full understanding of the International Laws of the Game. The course is run over 1 day or 2 sessions and involves a theory and practical element. On completion of the course and the exam participants will be able to officiate on games in their local area. The start time for each course will be confirmed on application.
- Sunday 20th May 2012 @ Oxford Brookes University, Westminster Sports Centre, Harcourt Hill Campus, Botley, OX2 9AT (10am – 4pm)
- Sunday 20th May 2012 @ Gateshead College, Gateshead International Stadium, Neilson Road, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, NE10 0EF.
- Saturday 26th May 2012 @ Deeside Leisure Centre, Chester Road West, Queensferry, Flintshire. CH5 1SA (10am - 4pm).
- Saturday 2nd June 2012 @ New Springs, Aspull RFU, Aspull
- Sunday 10th June 2012 @ West Lynn Social Club, St Peters Road, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, PE34 3LB (10am - 4pm)
Cost: £25 for adults and £12.50 for under 18’s.
13 A Side Application Form
Match Officials13-a-side Short Course
Aim of the course: To be qualified to referee the 13 aside game
The course consists of professional discussion specifically aimed at players and ex players.
Attendees receive the RFL Match Officials Award and can then join a local Referees Society should they wish to become a Match Official.

Young Officials Course
In 2010 the RFL, working with the Youth Sports Trust introduced a brand new course with the specific target of young people in mind. This course is available to any schools or groups of people aged 14-19 who are interested in developing their officiating skills.
The course has been designed to cater for the needs of exam boards and allows for students with little or no experience of the sport to gain an officiating qualification. Teachers Course
Teachers are often an essential part of supporting schools Rugby League and this is recognised by the fact that there is a specialist teachers course offered. This course takes around two hours and provides a basic introduction into the laws of the game and their application within schools Rugby League.
