What is it?

The function of communications within the club is responsible for ensuring clear, concise information and message are disseminated internal and externally of the club.

Why is it important?

It is important that accurate, timely, relevant, and current information is provided by the club to players, members, workforce and the wider external audience and that this flow of information is controlled and to a consistent standard.

What does it look like?

Those working in the core activity of Communications should:  

  • Ensure a consistent approach to internal communication at the club (e-mail, news letters, intranet, house style written communications)
  • Ensure that external communications are aligned with internal communications and are timed appropriately
  • Identify new channels of communication where appropriate to better meet the needs of the target audiences such as social media sites.
  • Keep notice boards tidy and up-to date
  • Ensure that the content of the club’s website is current and relevant, providing the right mix of information to all members of the club and their supporters.
  • Write and present material on the website in order to maximise the appeal of the club’s website. 
  • Ensure that the website adheres to all legal and regulatory obligations including copy write and data protection.
