Yorkshire Regional League deadline extended

The deadline for Yorkshire community Rugby League clubs to express their interest in participating in a new summer-based men’s league has been extended to June 27 to bring it in line with the expressions of interest sought for the proposed North West regional league.
The RFL is currently receiving Expressions of Interest from all clubs that want to find out more about the Yorkshire Regional League which will start in March 2012 with an abridged interim season to be played from September 2011 to November 2011.
The RFL’s Director of Participation and Strategic Partnerships, David Gent said: “We have extended the deadline to June 27 to give clubs and players more time to discuss the exciting opportunities presented by this new summer-based competition.
“We have already received significant interest in the new competition and are aware that many clubs are asking for a little more time to consider the proposals as they are currently in the process of canvassing their players on when they would like to play.
“The new league presents many exciting opportunities for clubs and players who wish to play in a fully integrated March to November season with all the advantages that brings in terms of better conditions for training and playing.
“Conversations are also taking place between RFL staff and clubs that are asking for more information or highlighting specific obstacles. We have therefore put the deadline back 10 days to ensure that clubs and players are able to get all the information they need.”
The Yorkshire Regional League will feature a Premier League with divisions below split geographically into East and West and would sit at Tier 4 of the sport’s pyramid structure below Super League, the Championships and the Conference Leagues.
