South Cumbrian Masters Rugby League players had their first game of the 2011 season on Sunday down at Roose Pioneers Red Waters ground. 16 participants split to make two teams of 8 a-side and enjoy the first run out of the season.

There were several new faces to the game but also a lot of last year’s Maters participants.  There was three 15 minute periods played and a lot of good talent was on display. Several tries from both teams were run in but sticking to the true spirit of the Masters game, the match ended in a draw.

Matt Jefferson the event organiser said ‘I am more than happy with how the game ran, we obviously would have liked to have seen a few more players down but with this being the first event we hope that it will attract a few more participants for the next event in a month’s time.
