With the head of PE and driving force behind Rugby League at Settle College, Anthony Shepherd, moving a new generation of coaches are needed to continue the schools excellent record in the Carnegie Champion Schools competition.

PE teacher Sophie Morley and Year 11 student Lauren Stallwood have passed their level 1 coaching badges so they can have the appropriate skills to develop students at the college.

Lauren is a keen rugby player, captaining Settle College to two national finals in her three years at the school.

She led the under 16 team to victory in this year’s Champion Schools final, winning player of the match and scoring 6 out of 7 tries.

Lauren is a gifted and talented sportswoman and excellent young coach and she will use her skills and experience to help continue the schools participation in rugby league next year.

Lauren’s father has been extremely supportive of this new role, funding the cost of the course in conjunction with the school.

Lauren will act as assistant coach to several rugby teams next year, alongside current year 12 student Sam Allsopp and year 10 yorkshire representative Jack Walker.
