Settle and Deanery make year 10 final

Settle College’s Year 10 girls recorded a fine win over rivals Castleford High to ensure they will be joining their year 8 team in the Carnegie Champion Schools Final in London.

Despite finishing second in their initial group, Settle managed to overcome a resilient Castleford side in what proved to be a thrilling semi-final encounter.

A conversion was all that separated the two teams, and when the final whistle was eventually blown, the delight was plain to see.

As for Castleford High, a defeat proved hard to take, especially given their overall dominance of the group stages beforehand.

Joining Settle in the final will be Deanery, who sneaked past Orleans Park of London in another evenly contested semi-final tie.

A 6–0 victory was all that was needed for the North West side to secure a place in the final, thanks mainly to a strong defensive display in which they managed to keep a powerful Orleans Park side at bay.

The two finalists will now compete for the National title in London, where the victor will be crowned Carnegie Champion School 2011.
