A Primary School Tag Rugby League Festival was run by Leigh Centurions Community Rugby League Coach John Duffy last week at Rivington and Blackrod High School.

After a successful block of coaching in the cluster six primary schools took part in this festive event.

The participating schools were:
Lord Street Primary School, Blackrod Church Primary School, Blackrod Primary School, Horwich Parish Primary School, Claypool Primary School and, St. Catherines Primary School.

The overall winners of the competition were St. Catherines Primary School, who received the special winners prize of a digital printer for the school’s ICT Department, which was kindly donated by MCC.

Rugby League Community Coach John Duffy said: “The standard of rugby on display has been exceptional, and it has been fantastic to see the skills I have taught these kids put into practice.

“The most rewarding aspect of the entire project was parents, teachers and children approaching me after the tournament, requesting information on linking up with local amateur clubs to further their Rugby League development.”
