Retired Rugby League players in the Midlands are set to make a come-back as part of the Midlands Magic Event on Saturday 18th June, when the East Midlands Masters will take on the West Midlands Masters in a State Of Origin style clash.

Masters Rugby League is designed for those over the age of 35, with staged adapted rules as players increase in age.

“Masters offers people the opportunity to roll back the years and play the great game of Rugby League at a slightly slower and less physical pace” explains Ash Howlett, League For All Officer in the Midlands. “We have a rich history of Rugby League being played in the region and are looking for players who are wanting to wind back the clocks for a few last games.”

A second clash is also penciled in for the Midlands Origin day in July.

“The 11.30 kick off gives our Masters the perfect opportunity to come and enjoy a game, before the main games begin, giving them a great chance to be social and enjoy the afternoon. The event takes place at the University of Coventry’s Westwood Playing Fields which has some great post-match facilities and will make everyone feel very welcome!” continued Howlett.
