Lewis praises GB after historic series win
Following Great Britain Students historic test series win in Australia, RFL Chairman Richard Lewis has been quick to praise the side’s efforts.
Today’s 24-10 success in the third and final test match in Cairns meant Great Britain took the series 2-0, following a 20-20 draw in the first test and a hard-fought 10-4 victory in the second which were both played in Brisbane.
“Winning any test series is a great achievement, but doing so in Australia is terrific,” said Lewis.
“I’d like to congratulate all the players and management for producing some tremendous performances over the last few weeks and winning the Academic Ashes.”
The stunning series win is the first time that Great Britain have ever won the student games version of the Ashes Down Under and is the first time they have lifted the trophy since 2000.
