Exiles voting period extended due to demand

Due to popular demand, the voting deadline for fans to cast their vote for the Exiles team to take on England has been extended until midnight on Monday May 2. Thousands of fans have already cast their votes, making every single nomination count for the inaugural fixture at Headingley Carnegie Stadium on June 10.
With only five days left to vote, competition for places remains keenly contested, with several key positions set to go down to the wire.
Competition for a place in the back row of the Exiles squad is particularly fierce, with Hull FC’s Craig Fitzgibbon, Catalan Dragons’ Steve Menzies and Hull KR’s Clint Newton separated by only one per cent in voting, both Fitzgibbon and Menzies commanding 15 per cent of the total votes cast while Newton is currently sitting on 14 per cent.
The competition isn’t just limited to the forwards either, as both centre and full-back selections remain in the balance.
Warrington Wolves' Brett Hodgson leads the way with 51 per cent of the votes as the leading full back, with Leeds Rhinos' Brent Webb hot on his heels with 41 per cent.
There is only two per cent in the votes between the leading wingers with Wigan Warriors' Pat Richards on 39 per cent just edging Wolves flying-machine Joel Monaghan.
The battle for the two centre spots is also exciting with Australian and Warrington colossus Matt King out in front with 37 per cent of the vote, but the race for the second centre position will go down to the wire with Wigan’s George Carmont just edging out St Helens Iosia Soliola by two per cent.
In a unique concept to British sport, the final Exiles squad will be chosen in part by the public, with fans having the chance to choose 13 of the 22 squad members to face England. The remaining nine selections will be made by the Exiles coach, Brian McClennan, and his assistant Terry Matterson.
