Castleford High v Settle Girls Year 11
The Girl’s Year 11 Rugby League finals was a day to remember for Settle as they beat their long standing rivals Castleford High in a thrilling match.
An early try was scored by Settle’s player of the match Ellie Fullalove, sidestepping a defender to find her way over the line.
Five minutes later a try by Castleford’s Jodie Wilkinson put the game at 6-6. 15 minutes into the game Settle scored again with Faye Ambler collecting a loose ball. Castleford High reacted quickly with Darcy Wiggins powering her way over for a try. At half time the score was 18-12 to Settle.
Strong running from Castleford’s Wilkinson continued, however it was Settle regaining position with Ellie Fullalove handing off a defender to cross for her second try. With 5 minutes to go Settle completed the scoring, Katie Giles intercepting and becoming the provider for a full length try, completing Fulaloves hat-trick.

Freeston Vs Honley Boys Year 11
On a cold foggy evening an electrifying Cup final was won in extra time by Honley who had dominated throughout most of the game.
Toby King for Honley stood out as a class performer and opened the score by crashing over under the sticks. Shortly after, a Honley scrum led to Corey Noel scoring in the right wing.
With the score at 10-0 Freeston playmaker and man of the match Duane Holmes match sidestepped his way over the line. Following a penalty Honley’s Noel showed great pace scoring his second try under the sticks. 10 minutes into the second half a great individual try involving a 30m run and chip by Duane Holmes brought the score to 16-12.
A late second half bomb saw Honleys winger knock on and Freestons Holmes to touch down the loose ball for his hat-trick. Shortly after Honleys Matty Schofield bulldozed his way through the Freeston defence to create a try for George King. A late try by Freeston Matthew Salter saw the score at full time 22-22.
Extra time nerves kicked in as each team was looking for the golden point. A 40 yard drop goal attempt by Freeston fell just short of goal.
Minutes later Honley had a penalty that swerved at the last second keeping both teams in with a chance. After a tough challenging match, Honley saw playmaker Toby King crash over the freeston line for his second.
