Carmont extends Wigan stay
Wigan Warriors centre George Carmont has signed a new one–year contract with the Engage Super League champions.
The 32-year-old’s deal with Wigan was due to expire at the end of December, but the player and the club have agreed to exercise the option of a further year.
Carmont, who made 31 appearances for the Warriors in the 2010 season, scoring 10 tries, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far with the Wigan club and the Grand Final win at Old Trafford was one of the highlights of my career.
“My family and I are really settled and I was always keen to stay and play for Wigan for as long as possible.”
Carmont joined Wigan from Newcastle in 2008 and has made 94 appearances for the club.
“George is a terrific player with a wonderful attitude and we know he will be keen to help the side build on the Grand Final success of 2010,” coach Michael Maguire added.
