The RFL is pleased to be able to announce the launch of the prestigious coaching qualification aimed at the professional game and those coaches who wish to develop in this area.
The UK Coaching Certificate Level 3, which is nationally recognised, will start at the end of March and run over the coming 12 months. As the senior qualification within Rugby League, the course is aimed at coaches working in the performance environment.
The course will be run out of Chester University Campus and covers core areas within the professional game such as Benchmarking, Fitness Testing and Player profiling as well as concentrating on the positional requirements and the Technical / Tactical elements of Rugby League.
This latest addition to the portfolio of Rugby League Coaching is welcomed by the game and is supported by many senior coaches including Dave Rotherham, John Kear and the England coach and Technical Director, Tony Smith.
Level 3 comes at the start of an exciting second year for the new look Coaching Section in the RFL– 2007 saw the introduction of a brand new national coaching scheme which proved very successful with over 96% of candidates passing at the first attempt – one of the best pass rates so far.
Despite the challenges of delivering a new scheme, the Coaching Team provided access to over 45 courses during the year as well as developing new programmes to support Rugby League coaches within the game.
