A late try from Sam Blaney helped Oxford secure a thrilling 29-22 Kingstone Press Championship 1 victory over bottom side South Wales Scorpions at Iffley Road.
Rory Sharratt opened the scoring with a try for Oxford that was converted by Jimmy Rowland but the Scorpions were quickly level as Paul Emanuelli added the extras to Harrison Elliott's 15th-minute score.
Andrew Hoggins put Oxford back ahead, but Lloyd O'Connor went over for South Wales, with Emanuelli's conversion ensuring the sides went into the interval locked at 12-12.
Ian Newbury crossed nine minutes into the second half to give the visitors the lead for the first time and Emanuelli added his third goal of the afternoon.
But Oxford reponded almost immediately with Matty Hadden going over and Rowland adding the extras.
Back again came the Scorpions and Paul Edwards' try with seven minutes to go gave them a four-point advantage.
Marcus Brooker went over with three minutes to go to again bring the teams level before Oxford won it in the final minute with Blaney's try. Rowland converted and added a drop-goal to give them breathing space.
