Hauraki handed two-match ban

Castleford Tigers' Weller Hauraki will miss his club's Tetley's Challenge Cup semi-final after being handed a two-match suspension.

Castleford Tigers second-rower Weller Hauraki will miss his club's Tetley's Challenge Cup semi-final after being handed a two-match suspension.

Hauraki was given the ban, along with a £300 fine, after admitting a grade C offence of recklessly striking with his knees in a clash with Hull FC's teenage stand-off Jordan Abdull in the Tigers' 18-18 First Utility Super League draw at the KC Stadium last Thursday.

The 29-year-old former Crusaders RL and Leeds Rhinos forward was not penalised but referee James Child placed the incident on report and he was subsequently charged by the Rugby Football League's match-review panel.

Hauraki, who is joining Salford Red Devils at the end of the year, will begin his suspension when Castleford host London Broncos in Super League on Sunday and also sit out the Tigers' Cup semi-final with Widnes Vikings at Leigh on Sunday, August 10.
