Doncaster RLFC 36-34 Swinton Lions
Donny survive Swinton scare
Doncaster survived a late scare from 12-man Swinton to maintain their push for a top-two finish in the Kingstone Press Championship with a 36-34 victory at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Substitute Richard Wilkinson touched down twice in eight minutes early in the second half, adding to first-half tries from Nev Morrison, Tom Hodgson, Kyle Kesik and Lee Waterman, to help put Doncaster into a commanding 36-12 lead.
But the Lions, who had Zak Johnson sent off two minutes into the second half following a flare-up which also resulted in yellow cards for his team-mate Josh Barlow and Doncaster's Waterman, ran in four tries in the final quarter though Richie Hawkyard, Andy Ackers, James Brown and Ed Barber to set up a nailbiting finish.
Danny Bridge - playing on a dual-registration from Warrington - and Mick Nanyn scored Swinton's other tries and Nanyn kicked five goals.
The outcomes leaves Swinton deep in relegation trouble while Doncaster, who a week ago became the first team to beat leaders Leigh, are just two points behind second-placed Featherstone.
