York City Knights 54-12 Oldham RLFC
Knights crush Roughyeds
Pat Smith crossed for a hat-trick of tries as Kingstone Press Championship 1 leaders York City Knights strengthened their position at the top of the table with a 54-12 win over nearest challengers Oldham.
The hosts made a fast start with tries from Smith and Jack Lee helping them to a comfortable 12-0 lead after seven minutes.
Further tries from James Saltonstall, Ben Dent and Ben Reynolds, with Reynolds taking his goal tally to four saw them completely in control before David Cookson got Oldham on the board with a try converted by Lewis Palfrey seven minutes before the break.
But Jack Adams responded for the Knights and they went into the interval 36-6 to the good.
Smith (2) and Joe Pickets went over after the break with Reynolds taking his tally to nine goals as York continued to boss the game and Dale Bloomfield's last-minute try for Oldham was mere consolation.
