Griffin brothers get Salford reunion
Salford Red Devils are to reunite a trio of Oxford-born brothers at the AJ Bell Stadium in 2015.
Former Wakefield Trinty Wildcats, Huddersfield Giants, Leeds Rhinos and England prop Darrell Griffin, 33, was joined at the Red Devils last month by brother Josh, 24, and from next season they will be accompanied by 22-year-old George, who is currently with London Broncos.
George, who joined the Broncos at the start of the year from Hull KR, has signed a 12-month deal, while Josh was one of four Salford players handed extended contracts on Thursday.
The former Castleford Tigers and Batley centre has been signed up to the end of 2016 after impressing in his three games so far while the Red Devils have given new three-year deals to two other brothers, Jordan and Adam Walne, and former Batley winger Greg Johnson.
Salford coach Iestyn Harris said: "We are delighted to have secured the services of Josh and George today along with extended the contracts of Jordan and Adam Walne and Greg Johnson.
"We are developing a tough, young core of players at Salford that are going to make an exciting future for this club."
Adam Walne, 23, and 21-year-old Jordan are both home-grown forwards while Johnson, 22, was a close-season recruit from the Championship.
Salford chief executive Martin Vickers said: "This club is now in a position to retain its best young talent and, beyond that, develop it to maximise its potential.
"We will continue to sign the best talent available, only now we will be mixing them with an impressive group of youngsters, hungry for success here."
