The Magic Countdown part 2
7 games 1 venue… it can only be the Magic Weekend!
The 2014 Magic Weekend really is just around the corner now! In fact, as I write this, 9 days from now the teams will be taking to the field for the Saturday matches.
Do you fancy a free ice cream from Josh Charnley, Jamie Foster, Ben Westwood, Rangi Chase or Justin Carney? Well if the answer is “yes” then next Monday (12th May) is your lucky day!
Super League will be setting up a summer camp at Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester and fans are encouraged to come down and meet players and get a free ice cream or Irn Bru ice lolly. A player from each of the 14 Super League clubs will be in Piccadilly Gardens from 12:30-1:30pm on Monday giving out ice creams, meeting fans and tweeting pictures of the day, so why not come along and say hello.
As for the event itself, with ticket sales already surpassing last year’s mark and the announcement today of an extra 2,500 tickets available for Saturday, the atmosphere inside the Etihad stadium and around the Fan Zone promises to be fantastic. There will be plenty for fans to see and do besides the action on the pitch and Super League partners are going all out to entertain fans with giveaways and competitions this year.
Inside the stadium Foxy Bingo will be holding Zorb races on the pitch in between games for fans; First Utility will be offering fans the chance to sit in “The best seat in the house” to watch their team and Alcatel will be giving fans the chance to win a £1000 goody bag from Alcatel for each game of the weekend!
The entertainment over the weekend will be compared by former Radio 1 presenter, DJ Spoony and music will be provided by The Big Beat, a band well versed in entertaining crowds at sporting events.
In between the action on the pitch, if you pop outside into the Fan Zone there will be plenty for you to do – Phone running low on charge? Visit the First Utility zone and power it up by riding a bike. Reckon you can pull a truck? Go and see Isuzu and give it a go. Fancy having your team colours in your hair? Foxy Bingo will be the place for you.
If you are planning on bringing food & drink to the Stadium with you, please make sure don’t fall foul of the Etihad’s rules – no food and drink to taken into the stadium or concourses. There is of course plenty of food and drink outlets in and around the stadium, serving a variety of food options.
