Thomas brace inspires All Golds win
Two second-half tries from Danny Thomas helped the Gloucestershire All Golds to a 29-17 Kingstone Press Championship 1 victory over South Wales Scorpions at the Prince of Wales Stadium.
After two tries and a conversion apiece saw the sides level at 10-10 at half-time, the All Golds outscored the Scorpions 19-7 in the second half to secure their first victory of the season after losing at York last Sunday.
James Walter and Craig Cook crossed the whitewash for the All Golds in the first half and Aidan Jenkins added a conversion, only for Connor Farrer and Ian Newsbury tries and a conversion from Paul Emanuelli to ensure parity for the Scorpions at the break.
Chris Leyshom drew first blood for South Wales six minutes after the re-start and Emanuelli added a goal and a drop goal to take his side's match tally to 16. However, the All Golds hit back with a try from Phil Cowburn, Thomas's brace of scores and three goals and a drop goal from Jenkins to secure a comfortable victory in the end.
Emanuelli replied with a drop goal of his own for the Scorpions at the death but it was not to be their day.
