Robins make new boardroom appointment
The Robins have made a new appointment at boardroom level with John Keable joining the club as a director.
Born and raised in East Hull, Keable has successful business interests in the Russian oil and gas industry and has already made a significant financial commitment to the club. He joins the board with immediate effect and says that the opportunity to become involved with the Robins was one he couldn’t turn down.
“I’ve been a lifelong Rovers supporter, as have my family, and I’m fortunate enough to be in a position where I can make a contribution to the club financially,” he said. “It all came about through my daughter, who is an avid Rovers’ fan. She’d seen a piece in the local paper about the club seeking potential new investment and was straight onto me about getting involved.
“I then had an initial conversation with Mike Smith (Robins’ CEO) and it all went from there really. It’s a great time to come on board as there is a lot of excitement surrounding the club at the moment and the future looks very bright. I watched the Leeds game from the north stand and although the result didn’t go our way that day, the whole matchday experience was terrific and a credit to all involved with the club. I spend the majority of my time in Russia but will certainly be trying to get to a few more games during the season.”
Meanwhile Robins’ Chairman Neil Hudgell is delighted to have Keable on board and commented:
“It’s been public knowledge for some time that we have been looking for additional investment so to have John joining the board of directors is good news for the club. As a long-standing supporter, he has the best interests of Hull Kingston Rovers at heart and the commitment that he has made to the club is testament to that. We’re excited about having John on board and look forward to working with him.”
