Mullally bolsters Bulls

Bradford Bulls will give a debut to Anthony Mullally against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats after signing him on loan from Huddersfield Giants.

Bradford Bulls will give a debut to Ireland international Anthony Mullally against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Thursday after signing him on a month's loan from Huddersfield Giants.

The 22-year-old former Widnes Vikings prop is the Bulls' second loan signing in a week following the arrival of Warrington Wolves back rower Danny Bridge and will help offset the loss of Garreth Carvell, who has joined Hull.

"We've got Anthony Mullally for a month, that's a positive for us," Bradford coach Francis Cummins said.

"He's a good player, it's just that he's with a really good squad so he'll struggle to get game time. Maybe we can offer him a bit of that.

"He's still only young but he's got Super League experience and that's what we need.

"He is a player that we as a club have been monitoring for some time now."

Mullally, whose last competitive appearance was for Ireland against Australia in the World Cup, goes straight into Cummins' squad as a replacement for Tom Olbison, who suffered concussion during last Sunday's opening 36-18 First Utility Super League defeat by Castleford Tigers.

"This is a big opportunity for me," said Mullally, who met his new team-mates for the first time on Tuesday.

"I cannot wait to get out there. If I can impress and play well, hopefully I will be able to play a fairly key role over the next few weeks.

"The boys have been great with me and the atmosphere is fantastic."
