North Wales Crusaders 35-22 South Wales Scorpions
Crusaders clinch promotion
Rob Massam scored a pair of tries as North Wales Crusaders clinched promotion to the Kingstone Press Championship with a 35-22 victory over South Wales Scorpions.
Leon Brennan got the Crusaders off to a perfect start with a second-minute try but the Scorpions battled back as Joe Burke and Dalton Grant went in with Courtney Davies adding a goal.
But it was the Crusaders who led at the break as tries from Massam and Stephen Bannister handed them a 12-10 advantage.
Massam extended the lead with his second try three minutes into the second period but again South Wales came back and Davies added the goal to Billy Sheen's try to level the scores.
Andrew Moulsdale went over shortly after and Tommy Johnson added the extras as the hosts went back in front but they were soon hauled level again through Grant's second try of the afternoon and a Matthew Wilcox goal.
However, the Crusaders went ahead for good when Owain Griffiths crossed and a Johnson goal and drop-goal from Moulsdale gave them a little breathing space.
Dave McConnell's last-minute try and another goal from Johnson sealed the victory.
