Gloucestershire All Golds 34-36 Gateshead Thunder
Late Hardcastle try seals thriller
Benn Hardcastle crossed two minutes from time and converted his own score to give Gateshead a thrilling 36-34 Kingstone Press Championship 1 victory over Gloucestershire All Golds.
Paul Stamp, Chris Heil and Callum Cockburn went over for Gateshead and Hardcastle added three goals as Gateshead found themselves 18-0 up after 32 minutes.
But Gloucestershire rallied late in the first half and a pair of tries from Pat Smith and a goal from Matthew Bradley got them back into the game.
Phil Cowburn and Steve Parry then went over within three minutes of each other as the All Golds turned an 18-0 deficit into a 22-18 lead.
But the game swung again as Luke Hardcastle and Nick Johnson crossed for Gateshead with Benn Hardcastle tagging on both goals.
Still Gloucestershire came back and converted tries from Patrick Evans and Curtis Cunningham looked like it would be enough to give the hosts victory with three minutes to go.
However, Benn Hardcastle had other ideas and his try and goal earned the victory.
