Wigan forward Lee Mossop is dreaming of ending his Warriors career as a winner

Wigan forward Lee Mossop is dreaming of ending his Warriors career as a winner by helping the club get the better of Hull FC in the 2013 Tetley’s Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 24 (3.00pm)

Mossop will join Parramatta Eels for the 2014 NRL season and the Cumbrian-born prop, who played in Wigan’s triumphant 2011 Cup-winning side, is hoping to end his five-year career with the Warriors on a high.

“Getting back to Wembley to play in the Cup final is unbelievable,” said Mossop. “I’ve been there before and I’ve won it and that’s the best feeling you can ever get so hopefully we can go on and emulate that this year.

“I’m moving to Australia at the end of the season so for me there’s no better way of leaving the club and all my mates I have here than by helping them get their hands on the Cup and hopefully the Super League title later in the year as well.

“That’s what we are all working towards and if we can put the performance in on the day, play hard and put in a big effort then hopefully we’ll come out on top.”

Wigan booked their place in the final with a comfortable 70-0 semi-final win over London Broncos in front of a passionate crowd and Mossop hopes to give the fans something else to shout about come Saturday August 24.

“Our fans are unreal,” he said. “The noise they make every week is unbelievable and they never fail to get behind the lads so to do it for them would make winning the Cup even more special.

“We’ve got a quality back line who are capable of putting in great displays which I think we showed during the semi-finals when they were on fire.

“For me it’s all about our forwards turning up and putting in the kind of performance that gives our backs the space and opportunity to do what they do best and if we can put all that together then I think we’ll have a good chance.”
