Sykes commits to Wakefield
Paul Sykes has signed a new one-year deal with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The former England international, who joined the club from Bradford Bulls last season, will now remain with the Wildcats until the end of 2014.
Sykes was a key player as Wakefield made the play-offs last season, but has seen his influence diluted this year as a result of a broken leg.
He remains an important player at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, though, and is pleased to have agreed the deal.
"It's been a bit of an up and down season for me personally and I'm looking forward to starting afresh next year and stay the whole season injury free," he said.
"After the first injury I got back playing and just started to get my fitness back, then I break my leg.
"It's pretty frustrating because I've been pretty lucky up until this year with injuries, so I'm just looking forward to getting all things right for next year.
"Watching the lads is a bit frustrating because you want to be out there, so it probably does make you a little bit hungrier."
Sykes' signing follows on from the deals agreed by captain Danny Kirmond and centre Dean Collis.
