Hemel Stags 38-18 Rochdale Hornets
Sharp keeps Stags in the hunt
Chad Sharp scored a brace of tries as Hemel Stags kept pace with the Kingstone Press Championship 1 leaders thanks to a 38-18 win over Rochdale.
Harry Mostyn and Jack Molloy crossed as Hemel raced into a 10-0 lead before John Cookson crossed to get the Hornets on board.
The Stags came back and quickfire tries from Mike Forgham and Sharp sent them into the break with a comfortable 22-6 advantage.
Sharp crossed for a second time and, despite Dave Llewellyn going over 11 minutes into the second period to get Rochdale back into the game, Hemel extended their lead three minutes later when Barry John Swindells crossed.
Aiden Pritchard went over a minute from time and Swindells added his fifth goal to virtually wrap things up.
Chris Baines' last-minute try, with Paul Crook adding a third goal, was a mere consolation.
