Grant Millington Signs New Tigers Deal
Castleford Tigers can confirm that Grant Millington has today signed a new one-year contract with the Club.
The 26-year-old forward, who joined the Tigers ahead of the 2012 season from NRL side Canterbury Bulldogs, was due to be out of contract at the end of this season but has now put pen to paper on an extension to his stay.
Millington has made 37 Super League appearances for Cas, scoring six tries, including a ‘Try of the Season’ contender in the Tigers’ 18-4 victory over Wigan Warriors last Friday.
“I’m delighted to have extended my contract at Castleford Tigers,” he said.
“Since Daryl Powell arrived at the Club he has given me back my confidence and has encouraged me to develop my game since my injury. I’ve started to enjoy my rugby again which is important.
“I’ve been very impressed by Daryl – everyone knows their roles and responsibilities and there is accountability. There’s competition for places and I know that if I don’t perform then I’ll drop out.
“I know that I can’t rest now though. Both individually and as a team we have to keep working hard and build for next season in order for it to be successful and I’ll certainly be playing my part in doing that.”
Head Coach, Daryl Powell said: “Grant has been a stand out performer since I arrived at the Club. His game has been consistent and of high quality over the past two months and his re-signing further creates stability looking towards next season.
“Alongside Grant’s playing ability are his leadership skills which have been a big part within the team’s growth.
“I’m looking forward to working with Grant for the remainder of this season and the next as we drive our development as a team.”
