Broncos suffer Dixon blow

London Broncos winger Kieran Dixon, who is fifth in the Super League try charts, may have played his last match of the season.

London Broncos winger Kieran Dixon, who is fifth in the Super League try charts, may have played his last match of the season after breaking a finger in training.

The 20-year-old, who has scored 21 tries in 21 league and cup matches so far this year, is likely to be missing for around six weeks.

It is the latest injury blow to hit the Broncos, who have seven games left to lift themselves off the foot of the table.

London today signed Wigan Warriors' 19-year-old Welsh international forward Rhodri Lloyd on a month's loan in an effort to offset their injury crisis and are set to give him his debut against Catalan Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday.

Llloyd has made just one appearance for the Warriors in 2013 and has been playing instead on dual registration for both Leigh and South Wales Scorpions.

"We're delighted to give Rhodri an opportunity," said London coach Tony Rea.

"We just wanted to make sure we had enough numbers. We've had a lot of injuries so we wanted to make sure we were covered.

"We've heard really good things and he's played with a few of our guys previously at the Crusaders. They spoke highly of him and we're looking forward to some good footy from him."

Lloyd, who joined up with his new team-mates today ahead of their trip to France, said: "As soon as I heard of their interest in me, it was an easy decision for me to make.

"I hope to get as many Super League games as possible under my belt with them and play my part in helping the Broncos move up the table."

Lloyd is the Broncos' third loan signing in a month, following the recruitment of centre Ryan Shaw and forward Jacob Fairbank, who are also in Rea's 19-man squad for Saturday's game.

Meanwhile, Broncos centre Michael Channing, who has made 12 Super League appearances this season, is set to join Castleford Tigers on loan to the end of the season, with a view to a permanent transfer.
