Hull FC skipper Gareth Ellis says he and his teammates will be inspired by the country’s Armed Forces when taking on former side Wakefield Trinity Wildcats at the KC Stadium on Monday.
The England international will lead out the Black and Whites in a special edition camouflage shirt for the match, which will kick-off the club’s exciting Charity Week plans.
With a particular focus on raising money for the Phoenix House Recovery Centre in Catterick, which offers support to members of the Armed Forces who have become wounded, injured or sick in the service of their country, Ellis says there will be no lack of motivation in the Hull camp going into the game.
“I can think of few worthier causes than helping those who have been wounded while serving their country and it’s been an honour to have the chance to meet a few of them,” he said.

“What they do is on a whole other level to what we do as professional players. At the end of the day, we’re just playing a sport but they are out there protecting us and any little thing we can do, I know the lads will get right behind it.
“To see what some of these people are going through really puts life into perspective and whilst we get down when we lose, it makes you realise how lucky we are to be doing what we do.
“I also think it’s a great idea to be wearing the Armed Forces camouflage shirt for the match and hopefully we can do it justice by playing well in front of our own fans and picking up an important win.”

Tickets for the game are available from the KC Stadium ticket office or by calling 01482 505 600 with the Black and Whites offering discounted tickets costing £10 to members of the Armed Forces with the relevant ID.
