Paralympic legend to attend Wheelchair World Cup final
The organisers of the 2013 Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup are delighted to announce that 11-time Paralympic Gold Medallist Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson will be the guest of honour at the Wheelchair World Cup final on Saturday July 13.
The Wheelchair World Cup takes places exclusively in Medway, Kent from July 3 to July 13 when six nations will compete for the title of World Champions and Baroness Grey-Thompson will be on hand to present the trophy to the winning captain.
A six-time London Marathon winner, five-time World Championships Gold Medal winner and current member of the House of Lords, Baroness Grey-Thompson knows exactly what it takes to succeed on the big stage and that experience will no doubt inspire the World Cup finalists.
"I am delighted to be attending the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup final,” said Baroness Grey-Thompson.
“I realise how much time and dedication goes into preparing for such a major competition and I would like to wish everyone taking part a successful tournament."
Medway Councilor Howard Doe said: "We are thrilled that Baroness Grey-Thompson will be returning to Medway Park as the special guest for the World Cup finals day.
“As one of Britain's most successful ever Paralympians, and a hugely influential figure in sport nationally, her attendance will add further significance and excitement to the climax of this prestigious competition."
