Crusaders win to stretch table lead
North Wales Crusaders extended their lead at the top of the Kingstone Press Championship 1 table with a convincing 58-16 victory over bottom club Gloucestershire All Golds at the Prince of Wales Stadium.
Rochdale's 32-16 loss to London Skolars meant that the Crusaders could extend their lead at the summit to five points and they did so in style, running in 10 tries - seven coming in a rather one-sided second half.
Jono Smith scored a hat-trick of tries, while Dan Birkett scored the opener and kicked nine goals for the Crusaders.
In addition, Rob Massam touched down twice and Craig White, Stuart Reardon, Gary Middlehurst and Owain Griffiths also crossed the whitewash to complete an impressive display for Clive Griffiths' side.
Gloucestershire All Golds, who are wtihout a victory in nine games, hit back with tries from Maxime Claustres, Tyla Hepi and Yannic Parker. Matthew Bradley, meanwhile, kicked two goals.
