Featherstone Rovers 12-22 Leigh Centurions
Leigh too strong for Featherstone
Ryan Sheridan's spell in charge of Featherstone started on a sour note as Rovers crashed out of the Northern Rail Cup following a 22-12 defeat to Leigh at the Big Fellas Stadium.
The home side got off to a good start as Anthony England went in for a seventh-minute try and Liam Finn added the extras.
But Leigh roared back and tries from Ryan Brierley and Martyn Ridyard, with Ridyard converting one of them, saw Centurions go 10-6 ahead.
Andrew Bostock's converted try restored Featherstone's lead but again Leigh responded as Matthew Gardner went over with Ridyard's conversion giving them a 16-12 half-time advantage.
Jonathan Pownall then wrapped up victory when he crossed three minutes from time and Ridyard added his third goal.
