England Youth name squad for first Test
England Youth coach Stuart Barrow has named his 18-man squad for the first Test against France which will take place at the Stobart Stadium, Widnes on Good Friday (6.30pm) after the Widnes Vikings v Warrington Wolves Super League fixture.
The side contains players from eight Super League clubs and will be captained by Huddersfield Giants player Liam Johnson.
The England side go up against their French counterparts in the first of a two-Test series, with the second Test at Wakefield’s Rapid Solicitor Stadium on Tuesday April 2 (2.30pm), and Barrow is confident his charges can come out on top over the Easter period.
“We’ve got a lot of talented players in this group and it hasn’t been easy to select the squad for the first Test,” said Barrow.
“A lot of these players have never experienced not being selected before so it’s a challenge to them to see how they respond to that disappointment and push the rest of the squad for a place in Test two.
“I’m confident we have all the talent to put in two big performances over the next few days and hopefully we’ll get the results that we are hoping for.”
