Hawks swoop to deliver books

Hunslet Hawks have donated 200 fictional books to New Bewerley School to help children improve their reading as part of their book week.
Hunslet’s head coach Barry Eaton and mascot Harry the Hawk visited the school to spend time with the children and discuss their enjoyment of reading at home and at school. As part of the curriculum each class at New Bewerley School visit the Dewsbury Road Library regularly to exchange books.
Barry Eaton said “Our visit to New Bewerley School for book week was very rewarding as all the children were genuinely excited about reading new books and being able to visit the Library to exchange them.”
Head Teacher Patrick Wilkins said “I am delighted with the positive response from Hunslet Hawks, our local Rugby league team. Their support for our promotion of reading with the children and families associated with New Bewerley is much appreciated.”
