Hemel Stags sign trio

Hemel Stags, in the midst of a cold pre-season, are continuing to sign more players into their squad for their 2013 season

Troy Perkins, Head Coach, is excited by the talent that is coming through and into the club. The Stags have signed Ben Young (Northampton), Dan Ljazouli (Loughborough University) and Mike Forgham from Eccles. Ben Young came to the Stags' Open Trial and Perkins is pleased to have found some young talent from the process. He said, 'he is only nineteen but has loads of potential and I am pretty sure in our enviroment this season he will be pushing for a starting halfback spot at some point during the season.' Dan Ljazouli has come to the Stags highly recommended from Loughborough University. Perkins said, 'He has come through a good system and Loughborough University and before that spent time at York Knights. He has been training really well and will add depth to our front row.' Mike Forgham has come from Eccles and has shone this year with his try scoring ability in the Conference National. Perkins commented on Mike, 'I coached Mike in a Commonewealth Ex- pats team that played against GB Community Lions in 2011. He was one of the best players on the field and is an elusive runner who caused the defence problems with every kick return he made. He has been scoring plenty of tries for Eccles the past two seasons in the Conference National and before that he was playing for Wyong in the Newcastle comp back in Australia which is a very good standard. We were looking for a quality fullback and once we were accepted into Championship One I contacted him straight away about joining us.' With the start of the season very close now the squad is starting to take shape ahead of the second pre-season stint after Christmas. Tom Williams, Chief Operations Officer and a club Director, commented 'With Oxford and Gloucestershire All Golds both taking great strides toward the season next year it gets more and more exciting each day closer to our first game. I have said it before and I will say it again now, this League is what the Super League should look like in 10 - 15 years and it is a truly special thing to be a part of.'
