Rugby League is set to move to a new level in the city of Wolverhampton from September 2013, as Moreton School Sixth Form launch their Rugby League Academy.

Students who enter the course will receive ten hours of Rugby League Coaching per week with professional coaches and will compete in the RFL's Colleges League.

In addition, students will also have the opportunity to gain coaching qualifications and practical coaching experience in Rugby League whilst studying for A-Levels or a BTEC in a high quality educational environment.

The course has attracted support from Super League giants St Helens and local new Championship 1 club Coventry Bears. In addition, the University of Gloucestershire is providing support and a potential exit route into Higher Education, which may see students awarded a Rugby League Scholarship to support their education at the University.

Students will also have the opportunity to be part of an annual overseas tour and be able to play locally with Wolverhampton Wasps Rugby League Club to put their skills and learning into practice.
