SRL Premier Division round-up

It was a high-scoring week in the SRL Premier Division with the top-three all strengthening their position in the league table.
LEEDS MET had a successful trip to the north east with a 50-0 win over NORTHUMBRIA.
Tries to Gaz Fairhead, Jamie Love and Gary Lock head – plus a conversion from stand-off Gaz Hynes – opened up a 14-0 half-time lead, before a commanding second forty from the West Yorkshire outfit saw them run out easy winners.
An Alister Leek hat-trick was the highlight of a second period which also saw Love cross for a second touchdown and Ben Johnson, Joe Tayler and man-of-the-match Josh Dixon also get in on the scoring act. Hynes finishing with five goals.
LOUGHBOROUGH ran in 10 tries as they cruised past ST MARYS 50-6.
Anthony Squires and Tom Chellow helped themselves to a try in each half, whilst Tom Hughes and Chris Barrett also went over in the first half to help the hosts into a 16-6 interval advantage.
Rory Campbell opened the second half scoring with a 45th minute effort and further efforts from Squires, Tolu Odusanya, Stu Houghton, Tom Smith and Chellow helped reach the half-century.
Matt Brewer (2) and Mark Wilson (3) provided the goals.
GLOUCESTERSHIRE were the biggest scorers of the day thanks to a 70-6 demolition of HULL.
The huge win keeps the All Golds hot on the heels of the top two and sets them up nicely for next week’s crunch clash with champions Leeds Met.
Frenchman Maxime Claustres set a club record with a four-try haul, whilst James Gahan and Phil Cowburn both grabbed a brace each.
James Walter, Jack Binks, Pat Evans, James Greene and Yannick Parker were the other men to cross the line, while the kicking of Matt Bradley completed the scoring.
Hull’s sole response came from a first half effort from James Deighton which was improved by Dave Scott.
